INDEPENDENT NEWS AND MEDIA

Requirements: Waste extraction and compaction from 3 inline trimming machines and 1 offline. New system to be built, needs to facilitate with energy reduction and help reduce machine down time.

Solution: After consultation with the client, it was decided to fit 2 waste extraction systems, and 4 compactors each capable of coping with the demands of 2 trimmers at full speed, and also having the capability of selecting duty stand by.

How the system works: Each trimmer is connected to the ducting system via a y type pipe with an internal flap, which is controlled with an air operated ram. The control panel which is the heart of the system uses a mitsubishi fx plc to monitor the state of each flap. The plc monitors which trimmers are in operation, and the position of the flaps. When the trimmer starts, the plc sets the flaps to the correct position, and chooses which extraction unit to start. The control panel will also give a visual indication to operators, which trimmer is in use, and which compactor is in use. It will also indicate the amount of material in each compactor.

THOMPSON AEROSPACE

Requirements: Test rig for newly designed airplane seating.

Solution: Following examination of the new seat and discussions with the customer. We designed test rig, hydraulic and electrical control system.

How the system works: The seat is positioned on the test rig, then the rig simulates a series of movements such as people sitting down, standing up, sleeping and moving in the seat. Through sensors on the rig we can produce a graph on the computer showing the pressure applied to each part of the seat. Thus enabling the customer to produce a safety certificate.
